Ben Jones Artist

About me

I am an artist, curator and writer who is interested in the possibilities of technology and media and how they can act as a (counter) public sphere and a place for discussion and debate.

I am one half of the independent curatorial partnership ‘James & Jones’, who aim to investigate the role of art and curating in society and culture through a variety of mediums and roles, so far culminating in the online project ‘31 Proposals’ (2009).

Currently I am working at Deveron Arts, Huntly, Aberdeenshire in a curatorial capacity under the organisations modus operandi the phrase ‘the town is the venue’. Deveron Arts has no gallery but uses the town itself as a studio, gallery and stage for exhibitions and performances. Alongside this is The Town Collection, where invited artists can place a piece of work from their time in Huntly in a public space. This includes a local garage, an estate agent, a pig-farming co-op, the local library and museum, a hotel, the business centre, and the swimming pool amongst others.
