Curating electronic arts festivals: AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award

This research will examine the curatorial strategies of electronic arts festivals. Despite the burgeoning calendar of varied arts festivals throughout the UK and Europe, very little research has been undertaken into their development particularly in relation to issues of curatorship and site-responsive practice. While often provocative in terms of the artwork presented, questions arise as to the underlying decision making processes, the role of multiple partners, the relationship between curator and artist, the challenge of multi-site curatorship and how all of this unfolds across a specific geographic terrain.
